Allied Health Care Services available

Podiatry

A podiatrist visits the facility every six weeks. Our specialist foot care nurse will assess the needs of the residents and organise podiatry appointments as necessary. This service is provided by the facility.

Speech Pathology

A speech pathologist is available on a referral basis to assess residents’ individual needs in relation to speech and associated swallowing disorders. This service is provided by the facility.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy referrals are made as needs arise.

Dietitian

A dietitian visits the facility regularly to assess residents’ individual needs in relation to diet, dietary supplements etc.

Physiotherapist

A physiotherapist visits the facility daily to assess residents’ needs and implement a mobility and pain management therapy program for the resident. The therapy program is facilitated by an on-site therapy aide.

 

Other Services Available

Pharmacy

Residents’ pharmaceuticals are supplied through EPIC Pharmacy located onsite.  EPIC provides an annual medication review for all residents.  Consultation with the pharmacist regarding medication management can be arranged on request.

Complementary Therapies

Aromatherapy is offered to enhance the well-being of residents. Staff are trained in the application of aromatherapy. Permission is required prior to commencing therapy.

Friends Coffee Lounge & Tea Room

The Friends Coffee Lounge is located adjacent to the main entry of St Vincent’s Private Hospital on Dalley Street, and the Tea Room is located to the left inside the Avondale Avenue entrance to the hospital.

Internal access is available to both areas via the hospital link.

A Friends of St Vincent’s trolley visits the home each week and regular purchases of sweets, magazines and a small range of toiletries, can be arranged by advising the office administrator.

Hairdresser

You may wish to take advantage of our hairdressing and/or beauty service that is available each week. Appointments can be made by contacting the nursing staff, activity staff or the office administrator.

Accreditation

St Josephs has been accredited since March 2000 by the Aged Care Standards & Accreditation Agency. St Josephs continues to receive a 3 year Accreditation status and is currently accredited until December 2020. The home has a strong commitment to its quality improvement program and prides itself in the success of its Accreditation history.
