Allied Health Care Services available


A podiatrist visits the facility every six weeks. Our specialist foot care nurse will assess the needs of the resident and organise podiatry appointments as necessary. This service is provided by the facility.

Speech Pathology

A speech pathologist is available on a needs basis to assess residents’ individual needs in relation to speech and associated swallowing disorders. This service is provided by the facility.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy referrals are made as needs arise.


A dietitian visits the facility regularly to assess residents’ individual needs in relation to diet, dietary supplements etc.  Specific diets are catered for.


A physiotherapist visits the facility daily to assess residents’ needs and implement a therapy program for the resident. The therapy program is facilitated by a therapy aid Monday to Friday. Hydrotherapy programs are available to residents.  Our aim will be to, where possible, restore/maintain movement/mobility and relieve physical discomfort.

Specialist Services

Residents may access a range of specialist health services on site including radiology, pathology, eye clinic, palliative care, surgical facilities (for residents with private health insurance or DVA gold card holders).

The onsite specialist medical centre provides access to medical practitioners specialising in gastroenterology, general medicine, general surgery, nephrology, orthopaedics, plastic & reconstructive surgery, respiratory & sleep medicine and vascular surgery.

Offsite services including cardiology, ear nose & throat specialists, gynaecology, medical oncology, haematology, pain medicine, physicians and urology. Ophthalmic, dental and hearing services can be arranged as needed.

Medical Emergency Team

In the event of an emergency when we cannot access your own doctor, we are able to access the Career Medical Officers (CMO’s) servicing St Vincent’s Private Hospital.

A 24 hour Medical Emergency Team is available to respond to calls for residents with potentially life threatening illnesses. The team will assess the resident and implement appropriate management strategies which may or may not require a transfer to hospital.


Residents’ pharmaceuticals are supplied in a Webster Pack System through EPIC Pharmacy located onsite.  EPIC provides an annual medication review for all residents.  Consultation with the pharmacist regarding medication regimes can be arranged on request.

Complementary Therapies

Aromatherapy is offered to enhance the well being of residents. Staff are trained in the application of aromatherapy. Permission is required prior to commencing therapy.

Friends Coffee Lounge & Tea Room

The Friends Coffee Lounge is located adjacent to the main entry of St Vincent’s Private Hospital on Dalley Street and the Tea Room is located to the left inside the Avondale Avenue entrance to the hospital.

Internal access is available to both areas via the hospital link.

The Friends Coffee Lounge serves a range of light meals, gourmet sandwiches, rolls, cakes, coffee and teas. Also available are gifts, cards, newspapers and magazines, flowers, confectionery and some toiletries. Opening hours are 8am-5pm weekdays, and 8:30am-12:00pm Saturday, closed Sunday and public holidays.

The Tea Room is open weekdays 8.30am-2.30pm.

Relatives are welcome to use these facilities when visiting, either for time out for themselves or to share time with residents.

A Friends of St Vincent’s trolley visits the home each week and regular purchases of sweets, magazines and a small range of toiletries, can be arranged by advising the office administrator.


You may wish to take advantage of our hairdressing service that is available each week. Haircuts (ladies & gents), perms, colour, shampoo, set/blow dry are available. Appointments can be made by contacting the nursing staff, activity staff or the office administrator.

Accommodation for Relatives

Onsite overnight accommodation is available for a small fee at Carinya Cottage.
